Job Summary
Our client is seeking an accomplished Global Procurement Director to lead strategic sourcing and procurement operations across North America, South America, Australia, and Asia-Pacific. Based in Santiago, Chile, this executive leadership role is responsible for developing global sourcing strategies, strengthening supplier partnerships, optimizing procurement processes, and driving cost efficiencies while ensuring uninterrupted supply for manufacturing and mining operations.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience leading international procurement organizations within the mining, industrial manufacturing, heavy equipment, or engineering sectors. This position requires a strategic leader capable of managing global supplier relationships while partnering closely with operations, engineering, finance, and executive leadership to support continued business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute a global procurement strategy aligned with the organization's long-term business objectives.
Lead international sourcing initiatives for raw materials, industrial equipment, fabricated components, and critical operational supplies.
Build and maintain strategic partnerships with suppliers across the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Australia.
Negotiate global supply agreements, pricing structures, service contracts, and long-term procurement strategies.
Establish procurement KPIs focused on cost savings, supplier performance, inventory optimization, and supply continuity.
Oversee procurement teams across multiple international locations while promoting collaboration and best practices.
Partner with operations, engineering, manufacturing, logistics, and finance to forecast material requirements and support production schedules.
Evaluate supplier risk, develop contingency sourcing plans, and strengthen supply chain resilience.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives through supplier consolidation, digital procurement tools, and process optimization.
Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, corporate governance standards, and ethical sourcing practices.
Present procurement strategies, performance metrics, and market intelligence to executive leadership.
Support mergers, acquisitions, and global expansion initiatives by integrating procurement operations and supplier networks.
Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years of progressive procurement or strategic sourcing experience.
At least 5 years of leadership experience managing global procurement teams.
Proven experience supporting mining, industrial manufacturing, engineering, heavy equipment, or process industries.
Strong understanding of international sourcing, contract negotiation, supplier development, and inventory management.
Experience managing multimillion-dollar procurement budgets.
Exceptional negotiation, leadership, and relationship management skills.
Strong analytical abilities with experience leveraging procurement data to support strategic decision-making.
Proficiency with ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, JD Edwards, or similar enterprise systems.
Ability to travel internationally up to 30% as business needs require.
Fluent in English; Spanish proficiency is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications
MBA or Master's degree in Supply Chain Management or Business Administration.
APICS (CSCP or CPIM), CIPS, or equivalent professional certification.
Experience leading procurement transformations or ERP implementations.
Familiarity with international freight, customs regulations, and import/export compliance.
Experience supporting operations in Latin America, Australia, or Africa.
