About the Role

Job Summary


Our client is seeking an experienced Supply Chain Manager to lead and optimize end-to-end supply chain operations supporting large-scale mining, industrial, and manufacturing operations throughout Western Australia. This strategic leadership role is responsible for procurement, inventory management, logistics, warehousing, supplier performance, and continuous process improvement.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with experience managing complex supply chains in industries such as mining, heavy equipment, manufacturing, oil & gas, or industrial distribution. This position offers the opportunity to drive operational excellence while partnering with global suppliers and cross-functional teams.


Key Responsibilities


  • Develop and execute supply chain strategies that improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.

  • Lead procurement, purchasing, inventory control, warehousing, and logistics operations.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with domestic and international suppliers.

  • Monitor supplier performance, negotiate contracts, and ensure service level agreements are met.

  • Oversee demand planning, inventory optimization, and material availability across multiple operational sites.

  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, maintenance, finance, and project teams to support production schedules.

  • Analyze supply chain data and develop KPIs to improve inventory turns, lead times, and overall performance.

  • Identify risks within the supply chain and implement mitigation strategies.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or other operational excellence methodologies.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, Australian regulations, and international trade requirements.

  • Mentor and develop procurement, logistics, and warehouse personnel.

  • Prepare executive reports and present supply chain performance to senior leadership.

Requirements

Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive supply chain or procurement experience.

  • At least 3 years of leadership experience managing supply chain teams.

  • Experience supporting mining, industrial, manufacturing, energy, or heavy equipment operations.

  • Strong understanding of procurement, inventory management, transportation, warehousing, and demand planning.

  • Experience negotiating supplier agreements and managing vendor relationships.

  • Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, JD Edwards, or similar platforms.

  • Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

  • Ability to travel occasionally within Australia and internationally as business needs require.


Preferred Qualifications


  • APICS (CPIM or CSCP), CIPS, or equivalent supply chain certification.

  • MBA or Master's degree in Supply Chain Management or Business Administration.

  • Experience managing international sourcing and global supplier networks.

  • Knowledge of import/export regulations and international freight logistics.

  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or advanced data analytics tools.
