About the Role

Job Summary


Our client is seeking an experienced Mine Maintenance Mechanic to support the maintenance and repair of heavy mining equipment at their operation near Elko, Nevada. This position is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing mechanical issues, and completing repairs to ensure maximum equipment reliability and productivity.

The ideal candidate has experience working with heavy mobile equipment in mining, construction, quarry, or industrial environments. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys troubleshooting complex machinery while working in a safety-focused and team-oriented environment.


Key Responsibilities


  • Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled inspections on heavy mining equipment.

  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, fuel, cooling, and mechanical systems.

  • Service haul trucks, loaders, excavators, dozers, graders, drills, water trucks, and support equipment.

  • Troubleshoot engine, drivetrain, transmission, brake, and suspension systems.

  • Replace worn or damaged components using manufacturer specifications.

  • Read service manuals, hydraulic schematics, and technical diagrams.

  • Complete maintenance reports, repair documentation, and work orders accurately.

  • Work closely with operations personnel to minimize equipment downtime.

  • Inspect equipment for safety concerns and recommend corrective actions.

  • Maintain tools, shop equipment, and work areas in a clean and organized condition.

  • Follow all MSHA regulations, company safety policies, and lockout/tagout procedures.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and maintenance efficiency.

Requirements

Qualifications


  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Minimum of 3 years of heavy equipment maintenance experience.

  • Experience maintaining mining, construction, quarry, or large industrial equipment.

  • Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and powertrain components.

  • Ability to read technical manuals and equipment schematics.

  • Experience using diagnostic software and electronic service tools is preferred.

  • Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in physically demanding outdoor conditions.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Technical school certification in Diesel Technology, Heavy Equipment Repair, or Industrial Maintenance.

  • MSHA Part 46 or Part 48 certification (or willingness to obtain).

  • Experience with Caterpillar, Komatsu, Liebherr, Hitachi, Sandvik, Epiroc, or similar heavy mining equipment.

  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.

  • CDL is preferred but not required.
